Efficient Market Advisors Introduces Five New
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
SAN DIEGO, CA, November 1, 2018 – Efficient Market Advisors (EMA), a Business of Cantor Fitzgerald Investment Advisors is pleased to announce the launch of five new ESG ETF strategies. The asset allocations of the new strategies will replicate EMA’s traditional strategies, which have performance records dating back to 2004. The new strategies will implement EMA’s portfolio views by investing in ETFs with high sustainability ratings.
ESG investing grew from a 2005 study, “Who Cares Wins,” published by the United Nations Global Compact and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. Since then, institutional investors have rapidly adopted ESG investment strategies. Some estimates claim that ESG investing is now $20 trillion worldwide, with nearly 20% of all managed assets claiming ESG criteria in the investment process. Now, EMA is making an institutional caliber ESG solution available to retail investors and their professional financial advisors.
Environmental: Focuses on factors such as smart growth, clean technology, water use, and conservation.
Social: Examines companies for human rights, workplace safety, anti-bias, community development, and other issues.
Governance: Looks for board independence, fair executive compensation, anti-corruption policies, shareholder interests, and more.
“Incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into investment portfolios is a growing opportunity set for financial advisors. Until only recently, there has not been a viable opportunity for ETF strategists due to limited product availability within ETF offerings. Now, with multiple new lower-cost ESG themed ETFs we feel confident in launching our strategies,” said Herb W. Morgan, EMA’s Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer.
Founded in 2004, EMA constructs proprietary investment portfolios using exchange-traded funds (ETFs). EMA was acquired by Cantor Fitzgerald Investment Advisors in 2017 and currently has $1.3 billion in assets under management and advisement.
